POWER
PLAY

When I began dancing I was eighteen years old and for the first time in my life I wasn’t training or preparing to win. For the first time, moving my body was separate from competition. Still, habits die hard. Power Play filled the stage with the visual markings of a basketball court, the dancers yelled “defense” over and over and my old basketball coach narrates the work.
